What to Expect

In some ways, one could say that true health is a bit like a well-built house - certain things have to happen in a particular order in order for everything to work together correctly. When building a house, if you tried to build your walls before you had a solid foundation, your walls would be weak and eventually may even collapse. These concepts apply to your body as well, and here at Unity Chiropractic and Wellness Center, we address why people experience pain and other health issues. If something is not right with your body's foundation, then that needs to be addressed before true health can be achieved. In the case of injury or long-standing dysfunction, your body goes through stages of healing in order to repair itself correctly and fully. With this in mind, there are three general approaches to our care:

Phase 1: Acute/Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, our first objective is to help you reduce pain and start feeling better as soon as possible. A thorough evaluation will be given and an individualized plan will be developed for you. No two people heal the same. The duration and frequency of your visits will depend on how you respond to care. For functional medicine patients, this is often known as a crisis phase - when symptoms are at their worst. Our goal, in these cases, will be to reduce symptoms as quickly as possible. This will include investigating the cause or causes of your issues.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective phase of care, tissues and chemistry begin to heal. The goal of corrective or restorative care is to help bring your body back to full function. Your practitioner will continue to evaluate and adjust your care plan along with your healing.

Phase 3: Wellness/Maintenance Care

Once your body has fully healed and you are no longer experiencing pain or other symptoms, you may choose to receive care to maintain wellness. Usually, this phase of care requires quick visits, based on your needs, lifestyle, and goals. This may include follow-up evaluations, lab testing, or adjustments to regimens - including exercises, supplements, and nutrition.
